Ministry of Health Targets Bali to Become an International Standard Medical Tourism Base

The government will build four pillars of international standard health services that will enrich tourist destinations in Bali.

Bali is targeted to become one of the bases for the international medical tourism industry. Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated this when laying the groundwork for the construction of the Aesthetic Service Center Building at the Sanglah Central General Hospital (RSUP) Denpasar, Bali, Friday (8/7/2022).

Budi said the government would build four international standard health service bases in Bali to support Bali as a medical tourism destination.

First, the construction of a State-Owned Enterprise Hospital (BUMN) in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic located in the special economic area of Sanur. Second, the construction of a special aesthetic unit at Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar.

In addition, the government encourages the development of biotechnology developed at Udayana University Bali and the construction of a hospital at Kura Kura Bali in collaboration with international private parties.

Budi hopes that the four pillars of international standard health services will enrich tourist destinations in Bali.

"People not only enjoy the beauty of nature, art and culture, but also come to Bali to enjoy international-class medical services," said Budi.

Budi said the marketing target for the medical tourism development is foreign tourists, especially Asians, as well as Balinese residents. He said Bali was chosen as a medical tourism target because it has been proven by tourism management such as international standard hotels. (antara)
