Jokowi Asks PPATK to Beware of New Terrorism Financing Modes

Jokowi asked PPATK to continue to make breakthroughs in adopting technology solutions for financial regulation or regulatory technology.

President Joko Widodo asked the Center for Transaction Reports and Analysis (PPATK) to be aware of new modes of financing terrorism.

Jokowi wants PPATK to take precautions to prevent efforts that can disrupt economic integrity and stability. He also wants the agency to anticipate cyber crimes through information technology.

"PPATK as a vocal point and financial intelligence unit must be observant and able to move quickly, have the capabilities and tools to deal with new modes of money laundering and terrorism financing," said Jokowi at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (18/4).

Jokowi also asked PPATK to continue to make breakthroughs. According to him, PATK needs to adopt technology for financial regulation solutions or regulatory technology.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta said PPATK also needs to improve digital services. According to him, there must be a new breakthrough in digital services.

"Developing a complete, integrated and real-time digital service center capable of serving stakeholders quickly, easily, precisely and accurately," he said.

Previously, Jokowi gave PPATK a new task, namely monitoring the flow of terrorism funds. The new task is stated in Presidential Regulation No. 10 of 2022.

The Presidential Decree regulates strategy, law, and cooperation in handling terrorism which is handled by the Deputy for Strategy and PPATK. Meanwhile, the analysis and examination of money laundering crimes related to terrorism is handled by the Deputy for Analysis and Examination of PPATK.(antara)
