Jokowi Asks No One To Be Provoked Again by Identity Political Issues in the 2024 Election

For the first time, Indonesia will hold Legislative Elections, Presidential Elections, and Regional Head Elections in the same year.

President Joko Widodo or Jokowi asked the General Elections Commission (KPU) to prepare political education ahead of the 2024 General Election.

President Jokowi hopes that the public can welcome the 2024 election happily as a people's democracy party.

"Don't make people provoked by issues of identity politics anymore," said Jokowi in an official statement, Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

Jokowi conveyed this after inaugurating members of the KPU and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on the same day. There are 7 KPU members and 5 Bawaslu members.

Jokowi hopes that members of the KPU and Bawaslu who have just been inaugurated can immediately step on the gas to work. The two agencies were also asked to immediately coordinate with the DPR and the government for the 2024 election.

Jokowi added that the initial stage of the election will begin on June 14, 2022. This agenda is important because for the first time Indonesia will hold a Legislative Election, Presidential Election, and Regional Head Elections in the same year.

Jokowi asked the KPU and Bawaslu to immediately prepare everything in detail and carefully, so that the quality of democracy is maintained. The government, he said, would provide full support for the implementation of the duties of the KPU and Bawaslu. (antara, tempo)
