Indonesia Prepares Super Application for Integrated Public Service

Each government agency currently uses its own application so that the application is too much and becomes inefficient.

The Minister of Communications and Information, Johnny G Plate, stated that the government is preparing super apps for integrated public services to produce one data, as part of the implementation of data-based policies.

"If we talk about public services, we must realize that there are so many services that are partially accessed by the public. Therefore, the government is preparing public services super apps, an integrated public service application in one application," Johnny said in a press release, Monday. (11/7/2022).

Each government agency currently uses its own application so that it is too much and becomes inefficient.

This super application is useful for facilitating cross-agency communication that is integrated in the same system.

These super apps also aim to prevent duplication of similar apps from various ministries and agencies.

Johnny said the government currently uses 24,400 applications. "It is inefficient and works independently. In fact, each ministry, agency and local government has different applications in each unit," said Johnny.

"We need to reorganize to produce one super application for Indonesia. At least, only eight applications are integrated. We are preparing this in the roadmap of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics," said Johnny.

Twenty thousands of existing applications will be closed, then gradually moved to super applications. Minister Johnny assured this super application will be much more efficient from the aspect of fiscal intervention.

In addition to super applications, the government is preparing four National Data Centers based on cloud computing (cloud computing). Currently the government uses 2,700 data centers, only 3 percent of which are based on cloud computing, the rest are classified as ethernet (work independently).

This makes it difficult to produce a single data in Indonesia. The first National Data Center will be built in the Greater Jakarta area. "Hopefully next month we can do a ground breaking so that it can be used immediately in 2024 when it is completed," said Johnny. (kominfo, antara)
