The patient has a history of traveling abroad.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Mohammad Syahril, confirmed that monkeypox cases had entered Indonesia.
Syahril said the Ministry of Health found the first monkeypox patient in Indonesia. The patient comes from DKI Jakarta and is 27 years old.
"A 27-year-old male patient from DKI Jakarta has been confirmed to have monkeypox," said Syahril at a press conference, Saturday (20/8).
Syahrial added that the patient had a history of traveling abroad. The patient's symptoms were not too severe.
As is known, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared monkeypox as a global health emergency. A number of countries have also declared monkeypox outbreaks as a health emergency. (Ministry of Health, photo: illustration)
