In the last three days, Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 500 with a transmission rate of 1 percent.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said he would observe the developments of the Covid-19 pandemic in the next two months before changing its status to endemic.
Luhut said in the last three days the number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia had reached 500 cases with the transmission rate or positive rate having also reached 1 percent.
"We all have to be united in facing this because we can't go on like this for too long. But three days in a row it's above 500, I'm quite worried because the positivity rate this morning I saw that it was already one from 0.5 to 0.8 percent, around that , now it's 1 percent," he said at a Working Meeting with the DPR RI Budget Board in Jakarta, Thursday (9/6).
Even though Indonesia's positivity rate is already below the WHO standard of 5 percent, he is still worried about its increase in the last three days.
Luhut also asked the public not to blame each other for the increase in Covid-19 cases and not feel that they were the best in handling Covid-19.
"Because we really can't control this virus. Now in America, this morning, I saw again that there was a new variant," he said.
Therefore, he has also told President Jokowi to watch the progress of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic during June and July before changing its status to endemic.
Thus, if it manages to control the Covid-19 pandemic for these two months, Indonesia can announce a change in the status of Covid-19 on the anniversary of independence on August 17, 2023.
"But again, our discipline must still be very important in this regard, especially in vaccination, which I think we should all encourage," said Luhut. (antara)
