Jokowi Says Government Has Purchased IDR 400 Trillion of Local Products

The government has pocketed a commitment to spend on local products worth Rp800 trillion.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is serious about moving the domestic economy by prioritizing the purchase of local products in state spending, local governments, and state-owned enterprises.

Jokowi said that the current spending on local products by the central, regional and state governments has reached IDR 400 trillion.

This amount has reached the target set by the head of state, which is 40% of this year's potential expenditure, which totals Rp. 1,071.4 trillion.

"The realization has reached more than IDR 400 trillion. This is more than the target," said Jokowi at the launch of the Domestic Government Credit Card and QRIS at the BI Building, Jakarta, Monday (29/8).

President Jokowi still wants to increase spending on goods and services from within the country. The government has pocketed commitments from all ministries/agencies, regional governments and state-owned enterprises worth Rp800 trillion.

"If you can enter Rp800 trillion and really the products are domestic, especially MSME products, the economic movement below will be visible," he said.

Jokowi reiterated that the APBN and APBD collected from public money should not be used to buy foreign products.
