The World Bank said that 60 countries would have their economies collapsed, 42 of which were confirmed to have gone there.
President Jokowi said that the economy of 60 economic countries is currently predicted to collapse. He also asked all parties to be vigilant.
"The World Bank conveyed, the IMF conveyed, the UN/UN conveyed, the last time just yesterday, I received information that 60 countries would have their economies collapsed, 42 of them have certainly gone there," said the President when opening the Second National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of 2021 PDI-P in The PDI-P DPP Party School in Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 21, 2022.
Jokowi stated that Indonesia must be vigilant not to be included in the group of countries with the threat of economic collapse.
He stated that the condition was very vulnerable because it might be difficult to get assistance from the state or other world institutions.
"Who wants to help them when 42 (countries collapse)? Maybe if there are still one, two, three countries in crisis, maybe international institutions can help; but if it is 42 and later it can reach 60 (countries), we don't understand what it is. what we have to do," he said.
The President continued that there is a potential for a global economic crisis to occur due to changes in current conditions. According to him, currently there are several countries that have entered the vortex of crisis due to current global conditions.
"Once the financial crisis emerged, it went into a food crisis, it went into an energy crisis, it was terrible. I think we all know it, already one, two, three countries have experienced this, they don't have foreign exchange reserves, can't buy fuel, don't have foreign exchange reserves. "You can't buy food, you can't import food because all of the food and energy are imported; then you're stuck with very high debt loans," he said. (antara)
He gave an example that the price of fuel oil in Indonesia is relatively low, among others, Pertalite is still Rp. 7,650 per liter and Pertamax is Rp. 12,500 per liter.
"Be careful, this is not the actual price, you know, this is the price that we subsidize and the subsidy is huge. I'll just give you a comparison, the price of gasoline, the price of fuel in Indonesia, Pertalite was Rp. 7,650, Pertamax was Rp. 12,500-13,000. Let's see in Singapore, the price of gasoline is already Rp. 31,000, in Germany the price of gasoline is also Rp. 31,000, in Thailand it is Rp. 20,000, we are still Rp. 7,650; but this is what we must remember, our subsidy here is not big, it is huge, " he explained.
According to the President, the price of the fuel subsidy is very large, reaching IDR 502 trillion. (between, tempo)
