Jokowi Asks for Strict Punishment in Cases of Violence against Children

During the event, Jokowi asked for law enforcement against perpetrators of violence against children.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attends the 2022 National Children's Day (HAN) event at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Saturday, July 23, 2022.

During the event, Jokowi asked for law enforcement against perpetrators of violence against children.

Jokowi asked that the perpetrators be given harsh punishments so that similar incidents do not happen again.

"I think strict law enforcement, strict law enforcement, against activities like that are indeed the responsibility of all of us to guard against it so that it doesn't happen again," said Jokowi at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.

President Jokowi also expressed his concern over the bullying case that befell an 11-year-old boy in Tasikmalaya. The boy with the initials F was bullied by his friend for having sex with a cat and recorded using a cell phone.

Later F's video spread to make him depressed. Because of that, F did not want to eat and drink for up to a week.

He later died while being treated at the hospital on Sunday, July 18, 2022. Due to this incident, the West Java Regional Police intervened and investigated the case.

Jokowi stated that this bullying incident is the responsibility of all parties. He hopes that similar incidents will not happen again, if the community is willing to take on the responsibility of supervising children. (antara)
