Jokowi Angry Many Ministries/Institutions Still Shopping for Imported Products

Jokowi said that by not buying local products, the added value of these products would enter other countries.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is furious that many ministries and institutions (KL) are still shopping for imported products amid many local products that can still be used.

Jokowi admitted that he was sad because money from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) and the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) was instead used to spend on foreign products.

"This is people's money, the money collected from taxes, both VAT, corporate income tax, individual income tax, employee income tax, export duties, from non-tax revenues is collected in a way that is not easy to spend on imported products. We are stupid. sorry. we are smart , but if we do it like this, we are very stupid. I have to say it as it is," said Jokowi at the opening of the National Coordination Meeting for BPKP, Tuesday (14/6/2022).

Jokowi said that by not buying local products, the added value of these products would enter other countries. In fact, he clearly encourages added value to the country.

"This is the APBN, you know. This is APBD money. You buy imported products. The added value that other countries get, jobs that other people get, aren't our people stupid?," he said.

He continued, he asked the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to closely monitor programs that direct domestic products.

"I ask APIP BPKP to seriously oversee this program and it must be successful. Domestic product purchases must be successful," he said.

In this case, Jokowi said he found a number of ministries, institutions and local governments who were reluctant to buy local products. He was furious with what he heard.

"I know that many ministries, many institutions, many regions do not want to buy domestic products. The reasons are various, the specs are not right, the quality is not good. There are many reasons. That's what the ladies and gentlemen (APIP and BPKP) control," he explained. .

For this reason, he asked that imported products that are still in the e-catalog should be taken down better. This means that the priority is on domestic products.
