Jokowi conveyed Indonesia's plan to build an Indonesian House in the city of Mecca.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi stated that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (7/6).
Prince Faisal promised Jokowi that he would increase the hajj quota if the situation improved. This year, Indonesia only got a quota of 100,051 congregations.
"If the situation improves, of course, the hajj quota will be increased, and facilities will continue to be built to support the implementation of the hajj," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi explaining Faisal's commitment, Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
Foreign Minister Retno also hopes that Saudi Arabia can realize this as the pandemic situation improves.
"Of course, our hope for all Muslims around the world is that in the future this quota will continue to be increased," he said.
Jokowi also conveyed Indonesia's plan to build an Indonesian House in the city of Mecca. The goal is to provide maximum support to Indonesian Umrah and Hajj pilgrims.
Jokowi asked for support from the Saudi Arabian government authorities regarding this plan. "This message will be conveyed by the Saudi Foreign Minister to the authorities in Saudi Arabia," said Retno.
On the other hand, Retno also reported to Jokowi that the Saudi Arabian authorities had lifted the ban on their citizens visiting Indonesia. According to Retno, this is the result of long-standing talks between the Indonesian side and Saudi Arabia. (antara)
