Indonesia Will have its Own Homemade Covid-19 Vaccine in 2 Weeks

Erick revealed that the name of the vaccine made by this BUMN had been given by President Joko Widodo.

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said the SOE vaccine for the Corona virus is now almost complete and is waiting for Emergency Use Authorization (UAE) before the vaccine is launched to the public.

"We are waiting for the Emergency Use Authorization which will be given in a week or two, I'm still waiting," he said in an interview on the sidelines of the Joint Recruitment Inauguration at the Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/8/2022).

Erick revealed that the name for the vaccine had been given by President Joko Widodo. However, the name cannot be submitted now because it is related to copyright and various rules that must be checked first.

The Minister of SOEs also said that free or paid policies related to state-owned vaccines would still be discussed among the government.

PT Bio Farma (Persero) previously stated that it had completed a series of clinical trials of the third phase of the BUMN COVID-19 Vaccine so that Indonesia could have its own COVID-19 vaccine as well as an offering on Indonesia's independence day.

Bio Farma has also completed an audit of the vaccine by the Institute for the Study of Food, Drugs and Cosmetics of the Indonesian Ulema Council (LPPOM MUI), so that in the near future the vaccine will have halal certification.

The company targets to produce 22 million doses of SOE COVID-19 vaccine in the initial stage, which is planned for December 2022. (between)
