Indonesia is also in the process of ordering Tecovirimat from the US and will receive donations of Cidovovir from Singapore.
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said Indonesia had ordered 2,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine (monkeypox) from Bavarian Nordic Denmark.
"We have ordered 2,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine from the Bavarian Nordic, assisted by the Indonesian Embassy in Denmark," said Budi in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (30/8/2022).
Budi added that in addition to the vaccine, Indonesia is also in the process of ordering Tecovirimat from the United States (US) and will receive a donation of Cidovovir from Singapore.
Previously, the Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Mohammad Syahril, stated that the procurement and distribution of the monkeypox vaccine (monkeypox) was still in the exploratory stage.
The procurement and distribution of the monkeypox vaccine requires two stages of preparation. Before being distributed, the vaccine must obtain a recommendation from the Indonesia Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ITAGI). Then, the vaccine must obtain a recommendation or distribution permit from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).
The World Health Organization (WHO) has yet to provide any recommendations regarding mass monkeypox vaccination.
