The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) praised the Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto's speech at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue 2022 forum in Singapore.
"Prabowo's statement reminds me of the very famous Asian-African Conference in Bandung 67 years ago," said MFA spokesman Wang Wenbin in Beijing, Monday (13/6/2022).
According to him, in the Bandung KAA, representatives of Asian, African and Latin American countries gathered and agreed on the Bandung Dasa Sila which refers to the five principles of living in peace.
"They build a spirit of solidarity, friendship and cooperation in Bandung. All of these are still very relevant in overcoming current international problems," said Wang, who is also the Director General of the MFA International Press Center who supports Hua Chunying, who is now China's Deputy Foreign Minister.
Therefore, he called on all countries to unite and work together to build solidarity to avoid confrontation. "After experiencing the hot war and the cold war, Asian people understand that peace is better," he said.
Countries in the Asian region must maintain Asian wisdom so that they can live with each other, accommodate all interests, respect each other's development policies, and continue to support sustainable development in the region.
"As a big country with responsibilities, China will always stick to the path of peace. China has always been committed and adhered to the principles agreed in Bandung by continuing to maintain solidarity, coordination, harmonization and inclusiveness in Asia," said Wang.
In his speech in Singapore, Defense Minister Prabowo spoke about the experiences of Asian countries that have experienced colonialism. He considers China as a good friend of Indonesia to be at the forefront of the anti-imperialist movement. (antara)
