QR Indonesia and QR Thailand have been tested and have started full implementation.
Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo announced the full implementation of the Indonesian standard Quick Response Code or QRIS with Thailand starting today, Monday (29/8/2022).
"We have tested QR Indonesia and QR Thailand and starting today full implementation," said Perry at the launch of the Government Credit Card & QRIS Interstate, Monday (29/8/2022).
Perry ensures that tourism transactions, MSMEs and so on are easier with this Interstate QRIS.
This implementation is slightly backwards from the plan. BI previously targeted commercial operations in the first quarter of 2022. Until now, BI is still conducting trials with Malaysia. The trial has been carried out since January 2022.
Meanwhile, the trial with Singapore is only at the stage of finalizing the agreement. BI itself is targeting five countries in Asean for the implementation of Interstate QRIS, fast payment, a.l. Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Thailand.
Perry added that this step was carried out in order to support the development of MSMEs, trade and the digital economy nationally.
